About Daingerfield State Park

Daingerfield is a small, quiet Pineywoods park built around a 74-acre lake — TPWD calls it Little Pine Lake — in the northeast corner of Texas. Tall pines, oaks and dogwoods crowd the shoreline, and the park’s own description of its forest as a cathedral of trees is fair: the swim happens in deep green shade and still water, with a swim platform floating off the designated swimming area and the grassy day-use shore behind you. The park was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps and opened in 1938, and the CCC legacy is part of a day here — historic cabins, a group hall and the Bass Lodge all survive. Between swims you can walk the 2.4-mile Rustling Leaves Trail around the lake, rent a canoe, kayak or paddle boat from the park store, or fish the pier for crappie, bass and catfish — no licence is needed inside the park. With 58 campsites, it works just as well as a weekend base as a day trip.
